Copy PSP Games

There are a couple of ways to copy psp games. Read the instructions below and decide for yourself which suits you better. Copying psp games can be really easy with the right tools.

Remember you will need a Memory Stick (preferably 2GB) for both methods.

Method 1 (Recommended), Difficulty Level: Easy
1.    Find your favorite game at AllPSPGames.com and download it to your computer:

More than one copy of the same game is usually available. The titles available on AllPSPgames are psp iso games which means they are full uncut versions which are found in stores. Downloads are available for all of the versions of PSP firmware. If after installation of the game you get errors like “Corrupted date” or “Game cannot be started” then you should check your current PSP firmware version and redownload a version of the game which is compatible with your firmware.
2.    Connect your PSP to the computer:
Connecting the PSP to the computer is done using the USB cable that comes included with the console. After attaching the wire you will need to put your PSP into USB mode.
To do that you will need to press the HOME button and then scroll to SETTINGS in the onscreen menu.
In the SETINGS column you will see an option called USB CONNECTION which you should scroll down to and activate by pressing X.
This allows the Memory Stick present in your PSP to be accessed through the computer.
3.    Transfer the downloaded game or games to your PSP (copy games to psp).
Drag the file downloaded from AllPSPGames into the memory stick.
The memory stick can be accessed from “My Computer” or “Computer” depending on your version of windows (it will appear as a new disk).
4.    Play the game:
When the game has been transferred onto the Memory Stick, you should disconnect your PSP from the computer. Now you are ready to play the game which can be done by scrolling to the GAME column in the main PSP menu and then selecting the Memory Stick option by highlighting it and pressing X.
A full list of games that you have on the Memory Stick should now be displayed. Select the game that you would like to play and press X. The game will load and you can start playing.

Method 2 (Advanced Users Only, Not Recommended For Regular Users) Difficulty Level: Hard

This method involves creating backup psp games which requires you having the actual game UMD disk as opposed to downloading the game. Backing up PSP games from game disks is a longer process which requires a fair bit of technical knowledge.

There are ways to copy psp games to a PSP memory stick using online guides which will show how setup the PSP for “dumping” the UMD disk onto your hard drive. By doing a search on Google you can find a few online forums and Youtube videos which explain the process in detail. The main advantage of this approach is saving the UMD disks that you already own from being damaged. For those who want to get new games without getting the disk itself should refer to method 1 described above.

For this method you would also need a Memory Stick and anywhere between 1 to 5 hours of your free time to actually copy the game. Due to various copy protection schemes, software incompatibilities and firmware features this process requires the use of software tools to transform the dumped image into a usable format.

A full guide will be posted here soon, in the mean time you can piece together all the steps in this process by searching on Google.
